Minutes
of the meeting February 21, 2005
Members/Staff
present: - Al Huber, Kevin Lucia,
Paul Lucia, JoAnn Kozloski, John Sanchez, George
Arackaparambil.
Following handouts were distributed by Al Huber :
-
- Minutes of the last meeting
- Agenda for current meeting
Meeting began with Opening Prayer by John
Sanchez.
Al provided an update on Fr. Jack who was
convalescing at St. Mary's Hospital.
This was followed by approval of minutes of the
previous parish council meeting held on 19th
January.
Updates on various committees were provided as
below:
- Finance (update
from Gail -via George - as Gail was attending
the Crab feed committee
meeting) - $15000 in pledges
received as of date towards Archbishop's Annual
Appeal.
- Buildings &
Grounds (update from Al/Paul)
- Davy trees were to come in and offer a bid -
but no idea if they came in to do so -
(Paul).
- Catholic Formation
(update from Kevin) - Video on
Bible Study - "Fathers Plan" almost done. Mass
and Book of Revelation being considered as next
topics ; Fr. Jack (convalescing at St. Mary's)
asked Al to have someone check with Mike
McDevvit ?) if the follow up to the Parish
Retreat for bringing members considering
returning to the Catholic Church was on the
calendar (for April 9th ? ) Kevin volunteered to
check on this with Gail ; Cathechesis workshop
at the Crowne Plaza (attended by Al, Kevin,
Paul, JoAnn) was said to be great ; Archdiocese
Leadership Training day on Saturday Feb 26, 2005
(copy was distributed by Al at the meeting).
Flyer was received too late at the parish.
- Parish Life
- (no representative as Robin who
represented the Parish Life committee is leaving
the council because of a schedule conflict with
a class she is attending). - Crab Feed was on
target for March-5th ; Easter Egg Hunt this year
being planned by Nancy (plans to have a separate
area for different age groups) ; Al to ask Gail
if somebody is going to organize the potluck as
Gail cannot.
- Public Affairs
(update from Paul) - Islander
is running a regular ad
- Social Justice
(update from John) - Vitae
Caring to make a presentation at St Luke's on
Friday night, March 11th. ; Date for the next
"West Coast Walk for Life" set for Jan 21 st,
2006.
Discuss Parish
Goals for 2005
- John Sanchez suggested that we focus on
staffing the Pastoral Council as an important
goal (We are short 2 members as Robin and Bong
have opted out). Al has asked for suggestions of
new names to be sent to him - so he can run them
by Fr. Jack - before the offers are made to the
new individuals.
- Other
suggestions
- Revisit the idea of making a Parish
Registry Book.
- Focus on our Mission statement.
- Have a Lending library as a source of
involvement.
- Art improvements - should we consider
statues of Mary/Joseph ?
- JoAnn suggested gathering all Parish
committees together one day to present/
discuss/brainstorm ideas for Parish Goals
considered to date.

Donut Duty List
- Already filled through Easter- new
signups will be taken at next meeting.

21st.
