- Agenda for current meeting
Meeting began with Opening Prayer by
JoAnn
This was followed by approval of minutes of the
previous parish council meeting held on 21st
February.
Updates on various committees were provided as
below:
- Finance (update from
Fr.Jack on behalf of Gail) - The
recent Crab Feed brought in $7000 ; this almost
made up for the shortfall of $8000 in the 2004
Archdiocesan Annual Appeal.
- Buildings &
Grounds (update from Al) - Kitchen
leaks fixed; Water heater in Sacresty replaced;
Chapel door repaired; Drain in Sacrarium fixed;
Lights by Mens room wired by Al; Classroom 3 has
apparent roof leak - Al is looking into it,
found crack and patched it, but that may not
have done it - hard to tell with the flat roof ;
Toilet running in chapel hall way, Al to take a
look; Trees have been taken care of (some were
taken down) - took 2 full days - Cost only half
as much as quoted by Laurel;
- (Thanks to John for taking notes on
minutes up unto this point as I was late to the
meeting)
- Catholic Formation
(update from Kevin) - Bible Study,
Fathers plan completed ; Lenten Series - Parish
Retreat Video on Thursday nights going well (20
- 30 people/night); Penitential service went
well; Easter season to focus on the Eucharist in
the next 6 weeks (as suggested by the
Archdiocese); Holy hour planned and to be
concluded with Benediction; Mike McDermott -
Reunion Retreat to be delayed to Fall (because
of the heavy schedule next month)
- Parish Life (update
from Fr. Jack) - Crab feed was a
great success - it also brought in a lot of new
volunteers ; Easter Egg (organized by Nancy) is
on track for coming week; Potluck on Holy
Thursday is also on Track (although Gail will
not be available).
- Public Affairs (update
from Paul) - Vitae caring, March
11th presentation was very good.
- Social Justice (update
from John) - Added to above update
- the presenter for Vitae Caring will be coming
back to the area - so additional activities are
possible.
Discuss Parish Goals for
2005
- Discussed getting new members - suggested
check with Gail on Crab feed volunteers as
potential candidates.
- Parish Directory idea from last month -
Paul circulated samples from "Busson Portrait
Directories" - an Ohio based company; Directory
will take 4 months but the pictures will be
ready sooner. (Other companies to consider
:-Lifetouch (not impressive from last time) and
Olan Mills; Al, Ngoc and John have offered to
review proposals from Olan Mills and Busson -
this is to be setup by Paul
Update on New Business by
Paul
- Paul played a video and CD depicting the
work of Fr. Richard Ho Lung M.O.P (Missionaries
of the Poor) in Jamaica. Question was if there
was an opportunity to host a music performance
by the Missionary Troupe as a fund raiser for
them and as an activity for the Parish. Was put
on the back burner to mull over - as most
Mission Fund raisers are usually through the
Missionary Cooperative.
Update on Donut Duty
List
- Suggestion was to add more Donuts - as
they have been running out recently.
- Donut duty signup sheet was
circulated.
Al will do the Opening and Closing Prayer at
the April meeting on April 18th, 2005.
Meeting was concluded with a closing Prayer by
JoAnn.
